His & Hers Wall Art

This is a tutorial for the His and Hers wall art I made with the help of Graphics Fairy. This blog is amazing and features a bunch of FREE vintage images.

I had two old wall plaques that I purchased a long time ago at target that I wanted to reuse. I just soaked them in warm soapy water to scrape the old image off since it was just a sticker it was very easy to remove.

Here is a picture of one of the plaques before....

Here are the images I downloaded

Open each image on Photoshop and add text to the image.
Before printing make sure you know what size image you want to print.
I used a laser printer and card stock white paper.
I cut each paper to fit the size of the plaque using an Xacto knife.

I used the gloss Mod Podge but you can also use matte.
It works the same but without the gloss finish.

Add Mod Podge Gloss with a 1" inch foam brush all over the plaque.

Carefully place your image directly onto the plaque and with  a credit card
to smooth out the surface to get rid of any air bubbles.
Now you can go ahead and add another layer of Modge Podge to the top
of the image and around the plaque to give it an even look.

These are the new wall plaques for my bedroom...I'm so happy with them! : )

DIY Striped Charger Plates

So the other day I was browsing online for ideas on charger plates for my dining room table. This was my inspiration....
I really like the the stripes on this one

This one is very modern and clean

This is just fabulous...I love the colors!

Unfortunately this is what I had to work with...womp womp! : / I started thinking about what I could do to update the current chargers I owned. These ones looked too plain and boring so most of the time they were stored away.

So this is what I came up with. I was amazed and happy that they match my spray painted napkin rings

Materials used:

  • 6 charger plates in any color
  • painters tape (1 inch)
  • white semi gloss Krylon spray paint
Quick Note: Charger plates are NOT meant to be eaten off of. Just for decor!

First, you want to start by taping the plate. Add 4 strips of tape across and press down firmly on the tape to ensure there were no openings that would cause the spray paint to seep through. To get even lines you can cut 2 small pieces of tape and place them under each strip of tape that is on the charger. This will help you lay the next strip of tape down evenly and give you even space between the tape.

Next step is to give the chargers a couple coats of spray paint with ample time to dry between coats. Once dry to touch you can start to slowly strip of the tape from each plate. I left them to dry for 24 hours and then washed them down lightly with soapy water.

This is what the charger looks like with my napkin rings. Second picture shows all the plates on my dining table. : )

Home Sweet Home

I found this super cute and FREE printable design on The Sprik Space Blog. Check out this blog they have lots of cool freebies you can download and print. I'm so glad I found this blog.....and will definitely be using more of their printable designs to put in a bunch of empty frames I own.

TIP:
When you go to download this image it saves as a 5x7 size. I used Photoshop to enlarge the image to fit my 8.5x11 picture paper. Before I printed I made sure it was on landscape mode and on border less print.
You can skip all of the above if you go with a 5x7 print size instead. : )

Here it is...proudly displayed in a picture frame that I already owned.

Now, lets see how long it takes the hubby to noticed I changed the picture out...haha
