Margarita Cupcakes Recipe

I made these delicious cupcakes for my sisters 22nd Birthday this week. They are super good and recommend you have them at your next adult party. Why adult you ask? Well because these pretties have
Alcohol!.....Yeahhhh! Not a lot though but enough to make them super delicious.

I thought I would share with you the recipe to make these for yourself.
Feel free to make changes to this recipe or share it with someone. Whatever is easier for you.

Here is the recipe for the Lime Buttercream I used..........

Long Time - No Blogging

It's been (what feels like) forever since I wrote a post...well not really it's been about a month folks. lol
I took a break to have time with my boys before they start school. It was a ton of work trying to
school shop, meet teachers, clean house, get organized and also we got a new puppy.
Man that little puppy is like having a kid....I never though it would be such a big responsibility.
No matter how many curse words I say in my head (and sometimes out loud) when he pees on the floor
I happen to be growing fond of our little puppy.

Meet Romeo!

I also made a few cakes and baked goodies for some family members with birthdays this month.
So dang was I busy these last couple of weeks. Here are a few of the cakes I made.

Oh yeah and did I mention I also decided to open an Etsy shop for my crafts. I'm still working on it so I will post about that as soon as possible.

$10 Mirror Makeover

Hey Hey Hey....(Fat Albert Voice) lol
I just wanted to share with you the mirror I updated this week. I spotted this
heavy beast at a yard sale for ONLY $10!!! YES please! haha
I was so excited because this is going in MY room for me to look at
myself...hehe no really guys I'm serious. =D

Here is the mirror all beat up and dirty right before it's makeover.
I did take it apart to make painting easier and gave it a good
cleaning. It was so nasty...ewww!

Here she is with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of ultra white
paint and 1 coat of polycrylic.

I put the mirror back together and hung it up in my bedroom.
I am really loving the white.

Thanks for stopping by friends! I will be showing you in another post
what the rest of my plans are for this mirror. : )

His & Hers Wall Art

This is a tutorial for the His and Hers wall art I made with the help of Graphics Fairy. This blog is amazing and features a bunch of FREE vintage images.

I had two old wall plaques that I purchased a long time ago at target that I wanted to reuse. I just soaked them in warm soapy water to scrape the old image off since it was just a sticker it was very easy to remove.

Here is a picture of one of the plaques before....

Here are the images I downloaded

Open each image on Photoshop and add text to the image.
Before printing make sure you know what size image you want to print.
I used a laser printer and card stock white paper.
I cut each paper to fit the size of the plaque using an Xacto knife.

I used the gloss Mod Podge but you can also use matte.
It works the same but without the gloss finish.

Add Mod Podge Gloss with a 1" inch foam brush all over the plaque.

Carefully place your image directly onto the plaque and with  a credit card
to smooth out the surface to get rid of any air bubbles.
Now you can go ahead and add another layer of Modge Podge to the top
of the image and around the plaque to give it an even look.

These are the new wall plaques for my bedroom...I'm so happy with them! : )

Bye Bye Marilyn Monroe. Hello Chalkboard!

Since I had the bright idea to share my office/craft room with the hubster I now have to compromise and get rid of some of the girly stuff  I have hanging on the walls. So the first thing that went was my Marilyn Monroe framed art. Wahhhh....I love her!!! I didn't want to throw it away so I decided to make it into a chalkboard and put it in the entryway to my kitchen area.

This is what she looked like before....I opened the back of it and took the board out and since Marilyn was just a sticker I flipped it around to use the empty side.

I went ahead and purchased the Krylon spray paint because again I'm too lazy to paint. Let me tell you this is the best stuff  EVER!!! It worked so good cant wait to try it on other things...I didn't even used half of the bottle on this project. I purchased it at Walmart for about $3 and some change.
I gave the board a light sanding and then wiped it clean. Then sprayed it 3 coats of the krylon chalkboard spray paint and let it dry overnight.

The next day I rubbed the chalkboard with a chalk to prepare the surface. Right after I cleaned it up and put it back in the frame.
This chalkboard is finished and in its place on the kitchen wall. I will use to display the menu for the day and perhaps a to do list or shopping list. Whatever it is...I'm just glad I'll have this handy. : )

Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies

It’s no secret but I sometimes have to bribe my kids in order to eat. Lol
Usually it’s with a yummy dessert that they can’t have until they eat most of their food.
Dang kids!!! I’m sure Nanny 911 wouldn't approve but I made some chocolate dipped fortune cookies. A little bribing never hurt nobody...haha

Here I have:
  • 12/pack of fortune cookies
  • Sprinkles
  • Ghirardelli white chocolate chips (1/3 of bag was used)
  • * You will also need a baking ban or plate lined with parchment to sit the cookies on after they are dipped.

I used two different kinds of sprinkles the one on the left has hearts so my boys refused to eat those "cuz their for girls" according to my little ones. Shoot more for me!!! =D

You melt the chocolate chips in a bowl in 30 sec intervals and mix with a spoon each time until chocolate is completely melted. Be careful not to overheat...you can prevent this by not heating the chocolate for more than 30 secs at a time.

Once your chocolate is ready to use go ahead and dip a fortune cookie in halfway. You can use the spoon if you would like to get more on.

Then just go ahead and dip it in your choice of sprinkles

Last step would be to put the pan in the freezer or fridge for a few minutes to harden the chocolate. Take them out and Enjoy!!!!

Old Glade Candle

I had this old glade candle that I had stored away and I decided I was going to do something with it. So, I cleaned it out and found 4 white roses that I had already with no stems. You just glue them on the rim with a hot glue gun and you get a fabulous little vase to use as decor around the house. I love how it came out and it didn't cost me a thing since I already had the supplies needed at home just stored away. You can get creative and use different flowers and vases.
